Well I've already been edited again, so it's pretty much worthless for me to continue posting if I can't even say the word " gibberish". And no it's not as easy as that a--hole says when they say "just follow the rules and you won't get in trouble". Well the "rules" seem to be helter-skelter for anyone nowadays. So I'd just be booted if I continued to post there. But thanks for the birthday! Hmm... Can you say... Bleep me running? Eathray

So, the primary etymological theory for gibberish is as follows:
"...the word comes from the name of the eighth-century alchemist Jaber ibn Hayyan, who invented a strange terminology so that his works could not be understood by others, thus protecting himself against charges of heresy." -askdefine.com
Clearly you have treated 8'th Century Muslim alchemist heretics to a racial slur that insults both their scientific terminology and the sound of their Aramaic language as you listen to them prophetically postulate the turning of lead into gold. You have attacked the foundations of chemistry and mineralogy... and Arabic people everywhere! Go ahead... call them camel-jockeys too while you're at it, racist. I bet you profaned Mohammad too (PBUH). A fatwa on your house, my friend. You too shall be pushed into the seas!
Ahem... well it could be like that.

Okay. The deed is done. Post 68 in today's chat. Gibberish isn't bleeped, so if it gets changed it will be by a mod.
It looks to me as if one of those pot-stirrers over there must be button pushing on you in a most vindictive way. I'll bet my post goes unnoticed and unmodified.
I did see that you got a nice comment from someone who said you don't even know him(or her).
Seriously, I could hardly stand to even read that thread. I can't believe those same people have been over there quibbling all this time. What a crock! And to think that is the place Jeff is getting his perspective. I wonder if he even bothers to go see what is happening on other boards. I wonder if he even realizes that there are many boards where life just goes on and people are being helped by the regulars.
That place is really very sad.

And please, people... Please don't slur those 'Nice Arabic Muslim Alchemist Heretical Persons from the 8'th Century.' I don't want to have to moderate any other not nice words like what I will now call the 'G' word. Eathray

LOL Eathray! That is quite the cesspool over there, with a few prominent turds floating right up there on top in just about every thread! Yes, I said turds . . . I call 'em like I see 'em. I swear there are a couple people there who will not get off the ignore button issue to save their souls! I mean, seriously, I do not need a button to ignore someone. How much self control does it take to just look the other way? I think some of those big fish must swim in some mighty tiny ponds. James, I am so sorry you went over there. It surely does remind me of what a kinder gentler board we have at NTE.

Oh, and I did post a legit question on the community board. I put Jeff's name in the subject line; I wonder if he, or anyone will respond. The last time I posted over there I sank to the bottom with no replies. We will see.
And James, I looked through that thread, man, they are gunning for you! Some of those people must be recognizable in public by the size of their overdeveloped button pushing finger. What a hostile mess, and it seems to be lead by only a few who are running roughshod over all, and Jeff seems to be buying it because they are kissing his rear. I can see where your frustration comes from. I need to not go back (except to check my own post), that is a toxic environment. I don't know how Hidey spends so much time there and still maintains her sanity.

So I went over to see.....I don't get it. Really I don't. But as someone there said, I am new to the boards. I only read around the area James was in...like Eathray I am not wading through all that muck.
I don't understand why people go around and around about trivial stuff like an ignore button. Use or it don't.
I don't understand why Hidey is taking a position about temp allowing for edit/pulls to be discussed. It IS apparently allowed as we do it all the time...in fact it becomes the topic of the day. lol
Then again, I don't understand why people do what they do a lot of the time in the world so why should the boards be any different?

Well I ended the day (or woke up to): One Edited Post & Warning for Inappropriately Posted ContentOne Post Removedand One Post EditedAnd the new mods are so nice, they serve their spit sandwiches on a platter! " I appreciate you trying to post within guidelines, but I want to let you know that your recent post... I encourage you to keep participating in the community - you're in the right place, and you are a truly valued presence here. You are free to disagree with deepseashadow's opinion, or to not believe him." I was unclear, though, if your post was a veiled attempt at calling him a liar, or whether you were truly worried you may be misinterpreted. Name calling is likely going to be interpreted as an interpersonal dispute. If you decide to post again, perhaps just not mentioning liar at all would make it more clear that you simply don't share his opinion. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions about the community. Hope to see you posting out there." " Man they spend a lot of time composing personal replies to slaps! Now I long for the LW form letters. This is what they removed - i162.photobucket.com/albums/t278/JamesInOKC/New%20eBay%20Boards%202013/James-moderation-gibberish-edited3.jpg

I saw that post before it was pulled James. You know it was only noticed because as soon as you show up there, you have a bullseye on your back. That troll will set you up and report you for breathing. It is a mess over there. I find it interesting that there are really just a couple threads rising to the top over there; being kept at the top by a couple passive aggressive button pushing trolls. I'm pretty much flabbergasted that Jeff and these new mods do not recognize what is happening. I'm not wading through it all either, but it is such a shame that the board even exists at this point in time. What is the value? Those trolls are experts, they know how to walk a thin line, dish out the BS, play the victim and push that button. I've yet to see any of them offer anything of real value, they just keep grinding on their own pet peeves. You know, I am pretty big regarding no bullying, no name calling, address the issue not the person, etc. That philosophy is pretty important to me, but those mods are taking all sorts of things out of context, and literally putting words in other peoples' mouths. They are listening to the bullies and have put them up at the top of the pile, obediently messing with every post they push a button on. It is sickening. If I can't call a troll a troll and a scammer a scammer, well then, something is wrong. Of course I would always say "in my opinion, this is probably a scammer" - but I guess I should now say "in my opinion, this is probably a scam". The thing is, unless I am reported (and I am not so likely to be reported since nobody targets me) nobody will probably even notice the nuances of my wording. A mod only notices what is brought to their attention. All of this is, of couse, just IMHO. LOL! I posted my concern and solutions partly as a little test. I have no responses yet and it would not surprise me if I get none. Why? Because I posted it in a very neutral and non-combative voice, (and I didn't mention anything about an ignore button LOL), and just raised a few legit concerns and proposed some simple solutions. No bait for those trolls. I'll bet it falls to the bottom without comment. The only thing going on over there is being kept alive by the trolls, who seem to have Jeff snowed under. Well, that's my little rant for the day. I need to get my rear in gear; hitting the road later today, for another trip south. Will catch up with you all when I get a chance.

Oh, and as much as I know you would like to stand on principle James, I have to say that over in NTE land things are pretty much as they have always been; still a kinder and gentler place where newbies are getting questions answered. Other than a few of us playing around with shitake mushrooms and :-) Nice-Person-From-Japan :-) ping it in the bud, trying to find out what the limits are, we are not even seeing many bleeps. And I did see that thread where Jeff explicitly says that :-) Nice-Person-From-Japan :-) is not allowed because it is an ethnic slur, which really makes me wonder why it is okay to discuss doo wop music. That sort of inconsistency, and the stupidity of my not being able to use a common word in a context that has nothing to do with an ethnic slur does make me nutz, and it bothers me a lot that Jeff sees it as acceptable and even defends it. But I digress . . . NTE is still a great place to hang out and, as was evidenced yesterday, you are a valuable part of it James. When I was a new teacher, one of my elders suggested that staying away from the toxic environment of the faculty room was something to consider. He said that the faculty room was like a pickle barrel. He said that I and the other newbies were fresh young cucumbers with a lot of enthusiasm and new ideas. He said that if we spent too much time in the brine, we would become sour old pickles ourselves. Now I'm not saying I never ventured into the pickle barrel, sometimes it was fun to float around in there for a bit, but I always remembered how briney it was in there and I made sure I spent enough time with positive people to keep from turning into a sour pickle. Rule #1 - DON'T LET THE PICKLE BARREL SOUR YOU! LOL! Love ya all! And NOW I am going to get my rear in gear.

Did you guys know that we are allowed on NTE to talk about getting a$$-bleeped with a battleship... But you can't say it's getting n-i-ppy and talk about the weather? Eathray
